So many times we listen to people speak and think to ourselves, what is this person even talking about? I know that I am not the only one who has these experiences whether it be in church, at work, or in school. Presentation skills make or break the entire experience for an audience. Regardless of the topic you are presenting, how it is presented makes or breaks the experience. One thing that I have caught on to in my own presentations is my use of crutch words. I have noticed I am a more effective presenter when I am able to watch those words such as um, like, you know, etc. If you are able to perfect your presentations to avoid these words, it makes you sound more credible and confident and helps to hold peoples attention.
I am excited to work on presenting confidently. I have a problem with fidgeting. I am constantly doing something with my hands especially in large groups. My ultimate goal is to focus specifically on being confident in what I am presenting and conveying this confidence through the strength of my voice and by my body language. Many opportunities will open up in life as I learn to become a more effective presenter.
You're a good presenter. I'm glad you were the one to get our presentation started. I wish I had your energy when I presented. Btw, I love your blog background.
ReplyDeleteI totally have a problem with crutch words as well. It's good to realize that you have the issue so you can fix it!
ReplyDeleteConfidence is key, and I always try to remember that when I present. I also have a problem with fidgeting and I never know what to do with my hands! You did great on your presentation!
ReplyDeleteI too am glad you were the one to get our group started. You seem comfortable in front of groups and have good presence. Honing this skill could be a real asset for you in your career.
ReplyDeleteBrady, I think i agree with Nathan. You had great energy to pull of the hook and beginning of your group's presentation. I shared that same responsibility, and it can be difficult. I think you are right, confidence is very important. I think that mostly comes with practice and time. Hopefully we all get confident together! Good luck!
